Mid-Century Modern Inspirations

As I’ve mentioned before, I am decorating my family room and kitchen in the mid-century modern style.  Wikipedia defines Mid-Century modern as “an architectural, interior and product design form that generally describes mid-20th century developments in modern design, architecture, and urban development from roughly 1933 to 1965.”

“Scandinavian designers and architects were very influential at this time, with a style characterized by simplicity, democratic design and natural shapes. Like many of Wright’s designs, Mid-Century architecture was frequently employed in residential structures with the goal of bringing modernism into America’s post-war suburbs. This style emphasized creating structures with ample windows and open floor-plans with the intention of opening up interior spaces and bringing the outdoors in.” (Wikipedia)

A lot of you are probably shaking your head, wondering, “how did she know she loved that style?”  Well, my friends, a couple of years ago I became enamored with interior design blogs.  I started visiting these sites on a daily bases.  Scrolling through picture…after picture…  Overtime, I realized I kept going back to the same style – mid century modern.  I’m not saying I don’t love and appreciate any other style (I lovelots of styles).  For some reason I love this style the most.  I feel like I was made for this era. It is nostalgic.

With this being said – here are some of the things that inspire me.
